Here at Hutch we make racing games for mobile. We’re not all car fans, but some of us are! Over the coming months we’ll be introducing you to various Hutchies and the cars they drive. From a Peugeot 205 GTi to a Porsche 911 GT3 and everything in between... First up, here’s Game Director, Pete Stott to talk about his brand new Toyota GR Yaris!

PETE: I had to wait 10 long months after ordering my GR Yaris back in 2020. Over that time I started to have some doubts whether spending that much on a Yaris was a good idea. However on my very first drive home I knew I had made the right decision!

The 3 cylinder engine is only 1.6 litres, but it somehow produces 257bhp and crazy amounts of torque. It’s certainly fun in a straight line, but where it really comes alive is on a quiet, British B road.

The car feels so planted, it swallows any surface imperfections and imbues you with a level of confidence I’ve not experienced in any other car. It’s also great on track days - those of us in the London office are lucky enough to have Brands Hatch on our doorstep and often head there together on team track days.

The GR Yaris is also more than capable of taking all 4 of us and the dog somewhere for a muddy walk. I may well be holding on to this one for quite some time!
